The owner, Tim McElearney, is a long time native Californian that went to high school in Washington State. Having started coaching in 1989, Mr. McElearney has developed a long standing career in Percussion Coaching, Percussion Composition, Website Design, and Video & Sound Editing. He also worked in Drill Design, Marching Instruction, as an Assistant Band Director, and has consulted for many Bands, Drum Lines, Color Guards, Youth Bands, and Drum Corps.
After receiving a Bachelors of Music in Music Education from the University of Southern California, and a Masters of Arts in Education from Pepperdine Graduate School of Education and Psychology, Mr. McElearney went on to become a Computer Trainer for a major computer sales company. He then left adult education to teach at Bellflower High School for several years where he won Southern California School Band and Orchestra & the Southern California Judges Association Marching Band Championships, and earned medals in both the Southern California Percussion Alliance and the American Drum Line Association, and received consistently high marks in Concert and Jazz Festivals.
During his Coaching Years, Mr. McElearney marched with the Freelancers Drum and Bugle Corps, the Pasadena City College Marching Band and Tournament of Roses Honor Band, the World Famous Trojan Marching Band at USC, and the undefeated California State Northridge Matador Drumline. Some of his accomplishments include appearing in television commercials, on stage at the pre-SuperBowl festivities at the Rose Bowl in 1994, and having a ten foot high picture of himself and the Tournament of Roses Herald Trmpets in two terminals of the burbank Airport for several years. His Won medals while marching DCI corps, and earned consecutive high percussion awards teaching the Sound Machine Youth Band. Many people have hired him to consult or judge percussion and bands from various organizations throughout the United States and Internationally.
He has written hundreds of warmups for both batteries, pits, full percussion ensembles, and hornlines, including marching band field shows. After having arranged numerous marching percussion compositions, and composed his own, he is now a nationally published composer with Marching Show Concepts, has edited videos for a nationally advertised travel agency, and has created websites for several ensembles and businesses. |
